How was your appointment with Dr. Bayer?

    May 13, 2021
At the outset, it's incumbent upon me to protest that I'm limited to five stars because Dr. Bayer deserves 10+. Dr. Bayer treated me from 1999-2001 for relapsed acute myelogenous leukemia. I was heartbroken, despondent, angry, and uncooperative. I clearly told her that I simply wanted to live to see the year 2000. I was a divorced, custodial parent, and NOTHING meant more to me than my two Preciouses. Nonetheless, I was adamant that I was not going to submit to induction and consolidation chemotherapy again. Dr. Bayer very cleverly and skillfully shepherded me through my emotionality, prepared me for the autologous stem cell transplant that cured my cancer, and cared for me post-transplant. On one occasion, she threw an IV line over her office door, had me sit in a chair, and she personally administered blood products to me because the nursing staff had gone home by the time I decided to present myself for care. She then drove over an hour to get home. This woman is a brilliant saint!
