How was your appointment with Dr. Mahan?

    Feb 17, 2024
He's sly and quiet. Not somebody who seems to need to hear how great he is. He passed thru my room twice prior to surgery. The first time he made his way to a chair in front of the window, took a seat, and gazed out into the courtyard as he appeared to catch his breath after a long stint in the ER. He was dressed in a grey t-shirt and blue scrub pants. It would have been easy to mistake him for the hospital aide who was there to gather my breakfast dishes. I asked who he was. He replied "I'm your surgeon". I said, "Ah, you're "the guy" and extended a hand. He was not a big guy but he had big hands for somebody his size and a vice like grip. He asked if he could postpone my surgery another day. He "asked" if he could postpone ... he didn't "tell" me. I liked that. I said yes and he said " See ya tomorrow morning. You'll be first on my table". And that's how I met "the guy". He exudes confidence and a quiet personality and I immediately liked him.
