    How was your appointment with Dr. Torres?

    I've been through a few neurologists over the years for my seizure disorder, but Dr. Torres is the first who doesn't talk down to me or rush through our time. She listens patiently, explains aspects of my diagnosis fully, and is careful to work on a treatment plan minimizing side effects. It's clear from the way she talks about epilepsy that she is interested in the underlying science and I love that about her! She is compassionate, too, and has shown kindness to me during rough times that goes above and beyond her profession (while at the same time never overstepping boundaries). I'm normally shy about leaving reviews, but I was so surprised to see the negative ones here that I felt I had to give a different perspective. Epilepsy is a stigmatized disorder and it can be hard, even today, to find a neurologist who fights the stigma and empathizes with the patient (rather than pitying us), so it's rare to find a doctor as skilled and good as Dr. Torres.
